A model-driven assembly and welding cell in use on selected beam jobs.
QUANT STEELFAB has been started up and is in use at a structural steel workshop in Mangalore, India, on selected beam jobs. The customer is not named in this case study.
A Tekla engineer selects the beams for export with the Quant plugin. The software simulates each job and provides the recognized component count and estimated assembly and welding time before production.

The cell is configured for the assembly and welding of supported steel beams. For another setup, the operator follows the software's 3D guide, releases the clamps, turns the beam with a crane, checks its X/Y position, reclamps it, and confirms the next step.
Scanner measures the beam and parts. Software calculates the assembly coordinate transformation, which is released to the robot after the operator reviews the match and selects Continue.
Selected beam jobs are prepared directly from Tekla and simulated before production. TouchSense separately locates the weld before welding; there is no continuous seam tracking during the welding pass.
